We made it!

We made it!

It was a long day yesterday, but we made it to cedar city in about 8 hours. After being locked up in a car seat, Chy was insane! She was great in the car, but we paid for it later! She was stealing stuff from the waitress, in a screaming match with another kid across the room, ripping paper, throwing food... you name it. We couldn't get her to bed fast enough.

Today we got up early and drove to Salt Lake. It was an easier drive (shorter). Yesterday's drive was prettier, for sure.

The house wasn't ready for us until about 2. My mom and dad had Chy, since we were on our way to meet Birth mother ("G"). When they came into the house, my mom said Chy ran around the house, opening all the doors and saying "baby bra". I guess she thought he was going to be at the house waiting for us.

We met "G" at an ice cream shop today. The agency was right when they told me she was tiny!! She is a very pretty and sweet girl. She had her son with her and he was so cute. We brought him a goody bag to keep him busy and he seemed to love everything!

Tomorrow night we will meet her for dinner. We are bringing Chy and giving the sitters the night off ; ) I hope to get some pictures at dinner. Thursday morning they will start inducing her about 7:00 AM. They will call us when she dilates to about 6 and we will head to the hospital. Last week she was already dilated to 3, so it should move quickly.

Trip eve!

Tomorrow, we leave. Grandma and Papa have been ready for days. Gord and I are just feeling ready now. What a busy weekend! My sister, Elaine, spent the day with me as my anxiety has taken control of me. It worked out well. I was able to finish nesting as she watched over Chy! We are splitting the drive into 2 days. We should arrive in SLC about noon on Tuesday. We hope to meet birth mom that day. We have had 3 great conference calls with her and are looking forward to spending time with her. We decided to go up a day earlier than planned to make sure we have time with her. BUT, the last time we spoke (Thursday), she advised she was dilated to 3 already. So, we may not be early, you never know! Induction is still set for Thursday at 6:30AM.

Every time we say to Chy "Are we going on a trip?", she shakes her head yes and says "Baby bra". We have to teach her to articulate BRO, not BRA!

I probably will not be able to check in until Tuesday night, when we are settled into our house that we rented.

I was holding back on this post until I had the correct details and plan, but I guess this is as good as I am gonna get!

We are matched with a Birthmother! She is due to be induced on 8/11/11. It is right around the corner. We are ecstatic to be adding a baby boy to our family! We have been trying to prepare Chy for the change, but I believe this is going to rock her little world! It will rock it in a good way, she just won’t know it for awhile!

We will be traveling to UT for the birth next week and taking Grandma and Papa along to babysit the queen. : )

I think the blog will serve as a great way to communicate to the masses and share pictures. We will be in UT over a week.

We would appreciate your thoughts and prayers, as this is a very stressful and emotional time for all involved. Adoption is very bitter sweet. Although it is an exciting / happy time for us, it is hard to celebrate knowing there is someone hurting on the other end.

We lost Chylar's birth mom to breast cancer, but gained a new guardian angel!

Met a friend and her family in Sedona for the weekend... We met when we were both painfully childless... now look at our smiles : ) E - Next year, Philly???

We tried the Grand Canyon. Who knew it snowed at the end of March??? Not me, I'm a Phoenician.

I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted! I think I will just post some pics of what has been going on... As for the adoption front. We have been looked at a couple of time in the last couple months and have not been chosen by the birth mother. I guess the right match hasn't come along. Even though it is hard, we DO know everything happens for a reason and the right baby will come along! There is one out there (hopefully, in utero) that needs US most!!

She is 2 today and I can't believe it! We still feel like new parents. Chy brought cupcakes to all her friends on Friday! Today we took her out to breakfast then a shopping spree at Walmart... we can still get off pretty cheap (so we are taking advantage of that). She had minnie mouse pancakes. She popped her balloon in the car on the way home, so that is gone. :0) She got some plastic fruits and veggies, shoes, dora bathing suit and stuffed dog with bunny ears on... cute? YES.

And for the big news... She pee pee'd in the potty. This came out of nowhere! Daddy was sleeping and we were playing. I had tried to change her but she kept running from me so I stopped trying. I figured I would let her get some fresh air! We were sitting there and i said mommy has to go potty, she looked at me and started patting herself. I said "Oh do you have to, too". I was only humoring her because she pretends all the time. So, I let her go first and she was sitting there staring at me intensely. Then I heard the tinkle! OMG. All those fake outs now seemed so worth it. We washed up and ran up to tell daddy. We'll see if this is a one time thing or the start of the real thing.

Visit from Omi and Opa!

This was Chy's first "school pic" I don't know if I ever posted it. Doesn't she look 5??? This is from October.

She let me blow dry and straighten her hair! It was so fun. I always wanted one of those barbie heads to put make up on and do their hair... I got one now!!

AWWW... the weather was fantastic, they didn't spend much time inside!

Great Visit with Omi and Opa! Gord and I had to work and Omi and Opa took on the challenge of watching Chy everyday, all day! They really had some great bonding time. (and only 1 tantrum)

Misc...

Howdy! Just a few things about our girl!!

She got her first bad report card (if you don't count the one that said "she was a little emotional"). this one said that she was pulling hair and wouldn't help clean up the toys. WHAT??? not my child. ; )

She had her first bout with pink eye this week... GROSS! Gotta love daycare.

Her vocabulary is growing... Bubble, Tickle, Momma, Dadda, Papa, More, Mine, Book and Ball! Also, a couple of us heard her say UMBRELLA! A little unbelievable, but she did. Witnessed by Momma, Dadda and Grandma on 2 separate occassions.

She got her first time out (at home) tonight. (She got it at school for pulling hair). This was for throwing things at and hitting Momma in the face... ouch! Gord put her in her chair and faced her to the wall and she sat there with a scowl on her face for a minute. I wanted to laugh, but didn't! : )

Clothes are harder to keep on her. She is often in her birthday suit in the morning!

Showing signs of wanting to go potty. We bought all the stuff - seat, book, stickers etc... Now mommy and daddy need to show the signs of wanting to move forward with this! Today, Chy put her Dora doll on the potty. Maybe she is showing US how it is done.

She has to bring cookies and valentines this year to "school"! How fun is that going to be for mom! Looking forward to that. Her first holiday party outside the home.

If you ask her where is Chy? She points herself in the chest with both pointer fingers really hard.
